SOCIAL STUDIES

World geography is the challenge for us this year. We have begun building upon our prior mapping skills. 6th graders systematically study the world outside the U.S. and N. America by addressing standards that emphasize political and physical geography and embed 5 major concepts: location, place, human interaction with the environment, movement, and regions (MA History and Social Sciences Framework, 2003). We will culminate our discoveries with an immigration unit.
